Henry Briggs Obituary

Henry J. Briggs, 79, of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Sunday, November 9th, in Saint Vincent Hospital after a brief illness.

Henry leaves his wife of 17 years, Patricia J. (McArthur) Briggs; three brothers, Robert Briggs of Barnstable, Paul Briggs of Boylston, Thomas Briggs of Worcester; three sisters, Beverly Stark and her husband, David of Spencer, Joan Geneva of West Boylston and Virginia Stark and her husband, Donald of Shrewsbury; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Vernon, Billy and Kenneth Briggs.

Mr. Briggs was born in Worcester, son of the late Frederick and Mary (Hicks) Briggs and has lived in Shrewsbury all of his life. He attended Shrewsbury Schools and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1948. Henry served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Local # 170, and was employed for many years as a truck driver for Henley Lundgren Asphalt Company in Shrewsbury before retiring in 1991. Henry was a member of several clubs in the local area.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Briggs's family on Thursday, November 13th from 4:00- 7:00 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Funeral services and burial will be private.

Dear Pat, I'm so sorry to hear of Henry's passing. I seems like just yesterday he was driving me, kim, and mona home in the back of his pickup from the club in shrewsbury. Your a great woman pat, henry was lucky he had you
