Janet Lang Obituary
Centerville - Janet R. Lang of Centerville, MA, formerly of Clinton, MA, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2021 at the age of 89. She is survived by her five children: Robin (Mike) Legere, Sandy (Tad) MacDonnell, Sue (Mark) O'Brien, Ray (Brenda) Lang and Heidi (Marty) Guthrie, along with twelve grandchildren, one great grandchild and her brother, John. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ray, and by her parents, Harold and Rubina Robichaud.
Janet was born and raised in Clinton, MA. She attended Clinton High School and Simmons College in Boston. In addition to raising five children, she worked as a School Teacher and a School Librarian during much of her adult life. She was also the Town Tax Collector for the Town of Lancaster, MA in the late 1970's. Janet was a committed Christian and was very involved in the churches she attended, serving as a member of the Alter Guild at each of the parishes she was a member of during her lifetime.
She loved skiing and took great pleasure in teaching her husband and children the joys of the sport. In her retirement years she took up the game of golf and became the Ladies 9-hole Champion at the Kings Way Golf Club in Yarmouth. She also loved camping, reading, knitting and doing the morning crossword puzzle each day.
Janet loved the Boston Bruins, the Boston Red Sox and the Cotuit Kettleers, but more than anything else she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Whenever they visited she loved taking them to the beach, to the ice cream store, the candy store or out for a round of mini golf.
She will be buried on Friday, January 8th, at a private ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne alongside her husband, Ray. The family will provide details of a memorial service to be held later this year when public health conditions allow.
