Jill G. DeMorris, 79

Westfield, MA - Jill G. (Smith) DeMorris, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on August 19, 2015 at Loomis House in Holyoke, MA. She was born in Southampton, England to the late Percival and Mary (Gorham) Smith. After marrying her husband, Richard, she moved to the United States where she lived most of her life in Westfield, MA. Jill was employed as a receptionist for Mestek Inc. for many years. She enjoyed reading, walking and visiting with friends, many of whom affectionately referred to her as "Queen Mum". Jill also enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary's in Westfield, and most of all, spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Megan. Jill was very proud of her British heritage, but was equally proud to become a United States citizen. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard A. DeMorris and her brother Roy Smith. Jill is survived by her loving sons, Stephen R. DeMorris and his wife Kathleen of Springfield, MA, Michael R. DeMorris his wife Anne Marie and their daughter Megan DeMorris of Sturbridge, MA, and Jeffrey R. DeMorris and his wife Diane of Westfield, MA, her sister-in-law Margaret Smith, nephews, Murray Smith, his wife Jayne and their daughter Sally, Harvey Smith, and a close cousin Jose Dixon, all from England. Jill's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Arbor's at Westfield, Loomis House and Beacon Hospice, for their exceptional care and support. Services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Bartlett St. Westfield, MA. Rites of Committal will conclude in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen St. Chicopee, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jill's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 264 Cottage St. Springfield, MA 01104, or to Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester St. Springfield, MA 01151.

So sorry that I did not learn of Jill's passing before. I worked with her at Mestek. I remember Michael too from his time at the company. Jill had a delightful personality and made some interesting observations of our habits and customs as Americans when contrasted with her experiences while growing up in England. We had conversations that I will cherish forever. She will be with us always in our memories. My sincere condolences to Jill's loved ones. She is missed.

I just saw this, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember when I got married, she came to the church just to take a peek, I always thought that was so sweet. She was a lovely lady.

My deepest sympathy on the recent loss of your dear and charming mother. I will always cherish very fond memories of "Queen Mum". Her friendship and infectious smile brought joy to many hearts.
