Joyce Hebert Obituary

Joyce B. Hebert, 79

SHREWSBURY - Joyce B. (Benoit) Hebert, 79, beloved Shrewsbury resident, passed away on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Francis A. Hebert, in 2016; along with her beloved infant son Michael, and parents, Arthur A. Benoit and Evelyn E. (Fenner) Benoit.

Joyce leaves her three loving sons: Scott F. Hebert and his wife Lisa, of Holden, Brian P. Hebert and his wife Wendy, of Shrewsbury, and Todd G. Hebert and his wife Sherri, of Holden; six grandchildren: Beth, Nicholas, Alexandra, Thomas, Lindsey, and Jacob Hebert; two great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Gemma Hebert; two sisters, June J. Percival, of Maine, and Linda Druaux, of Alaska; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Santi and Janice Young; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends from her St. Mary of the Hills Church community and neighborhood.

Born, raised, and educated in Worcester, Joyce was a graduate of Holy Name High School, alongside her Fran, Class of 1959. They were married in Holy Rosary Church in Spencer on June 16th, 1962 and settled in Shrewsbury to begin raising their family.

Joyce's pride and joy was her church, where she remained active as a eucharistic minister, altar server, and Parish Family Fun Day committee member; coordinating the Parish Flea Market and even co-founding the Community Garden. She was also a volunteer at St. John's Food Pantry, devoting her time and resources to bettering the lives of those around her. Joyce particularly enjoyed spending time with her late husband, whether it be fishing in Alaska or the wonderful cruise adventure they shared for their 50th anniversary.

She will be fondly remembered as a shining light by those who knew and loved her, especially by her family and church family. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend – her dedication and love will live on.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston, MA 01505 (saintmaryofthehills.com/weshare).

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Hebert family from 4 – 7 PM on Monday, June 14th, 2021 at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Joyce's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15th, 2021 at the church, followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. So very sorry for the loss of your Mom and Grandmother. We were neighbors when we were children. Your Mom attended the same church as my sister Nancy (Sherry) Mancini. They became friends.
Her recent picture shows that she possessed a happy spirit. Again, my deepest sympathy.

Scott, Brian, Todd and extended members of the Hebert Family.
So sorry to hear that your Mom has passed away. Many of my earliest childhood memories involved interactions between our families on Sewell Street. Whether it was fishing and boating adventures on Newton Pond, attending church at St. Mary of the Hills, or just playing together around the neighborhood. Life was a bit easier in those days and I'll always cherish those memories. See you all at the calling hours this evening.
