Juliette Manzi Obituary

Juliette I. (Messier) Manzi, 91, of Paxton, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center after a short illness.

Her husband, Albert P. "Toots" Manzi, died in 1981.

She leaves two brothers: Roy Messier of Palm Springs, Calif. and Felix Messier of Daly City, Calif.; two sisters: Emily Priskorn of Longmont, Colo. and Rita Titus of Brooklyn, N.Y.; many nieces, including Vicki Portice and her husband Jack of Canon City, Colo., Christine Malone of Margate, Fla. and Carolyn Manzi; and many nephews, including Stephen A. and Peter J. Manzi.

Mrs. Manzi was born in Worcester, one of eleven children of Joseph and Angelique (Lajoie) Messier. She lived in Paxton more than 50 years.

With her husband, she was very active in Massachusetts politics. She enjoyed the performing arts, especially opera and theater. She also closely followed the Red Sox and Patriots.

She was a member of St. Columba's Parish.

Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Friday, Dec. 11 from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Columba's Church, 18 Richards Ave., Paxton. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
