Katherine M. (Parodeau) Brosnan, 78

WORCESTER - Katherine M. (Parodeau) Brosnan, 78 of Worcester and Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth surrounded by her loving family.

Katherine was born in Hartford, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Henry P. and Alice P. (Melikian) Parodeau and grew up in Worcester where she graduated from North High School. She was the owner of Affordable's, a secondhand store on Grafton Street in Worcester for 20 years before retiring due to illness. Katherine was a member of the former St. Margaret Mary's Church and later St. Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. She loved yard sales, antiques and always had a great appreciation for a good find. Katherine also loved animals, going to her beach home in Marshfield and spending time with her family and friends.

Katherine is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Ronald P. Brosnan; two sons, Jeffrey C. Riordan of Del Ray Beach, FL and Brian A. Riordan of Boston; a brother, Vincent Parodeau and his wife Sharon of Holden; two sisters, Kim Welsh of Marshfield, MA and Tami Parodeau-Fitch of Worcester; two nieces, Kaela Fitch and Jenna Oliver; a nephew, Ryan Welsh; many cousins and friends. She also leaves three stepdaughters and seven step grandchildren. Katherine was recently predeceased by her oldest son, John P. Riordan, Jr. on May 22, 2019.

Services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Thursday, January 23rd from 4-7 pm in the funeral home. Dear Cousins, I will always have very special memories of our yearly Parodeau/Poske cousin sleepovers at Kathy and Ron's Cape house. The constant chatter even from bedroom to bedroom after supposedly settling into bed. The laughing, beach time, walks, shopping and great food. Kathy's hospitality was always so warm and generous. Very much like Ron's. Thank you Ron for going back to Worcester on Sunday nights instead of Monday mornings to accommodate our gang.
Please know that you are not alone in remembering a truly wonderful person that meant so much to so many. We find comfort in the knowledge that her kindness, compassion and spirit will live on through those she has left behind. Rest in peace sweet cousin. Love Cousins Debra, Glenn and Family.

My brother Norman just called to tell me about Kathy's passing away. We grew up together in Lake View and went to North High School at the same time. I've not seen Kathy for many years but she was a very dear friend when we were young. Please know that I will be thinking about you in the days ahead.

So sad to hear of Kathy's passing. She was the best in so many ways. Kathy was a wonderful mom and friend. She and her best friend Betty Ann Grande Miller (my wife) were full of adventure and fun as young moms. I still don't know how they managed to travel with 5 little kids in a VW Bug to so many fun places! Kathy is now with Betty Ann, her "partner in crime" as she called Betty Ann. Thank you Kathy for attending Betty Ann's anniversary Mass so many times over the last 45 years. You'll always be in my and my family's hearts. Sleep warm dear Kathy.

My family and I are deeply saddened by the the loss of our beloved Aunt Kathy. Kathy was the nicest person I've ever known, her kindness and love towards my girls and I will never be forgotten. Those who knew her would clearly agree that she was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, she was one of a kind and our world will not be the same now that she is gone. Our only consolation is that Kathy will no longer suffer and that she is reunited with John once again. You will always be on our minds and in our hearts.
