Kathleen O'Connor Obituary

Kathleen Marie O'Connor, 59, of Worcester, passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 in Memorial Hospital, with loving family at her side. Kathleen is survived by her mother, Nicholina Jane (Trotto) O'Connor Mastromatteo of Shewsbury; three brothers, John F. O'Connor and his wife Donna and Frank Mastromatteo, Jr. and his wife Margaret all of Shrewsbury and Daniel Mastromatteo of Auburn; two sisters, Carol Rose Gestone and her husband Ronald and Jacqueline A. Humphrey and her husband Wayne all of Shrewsbury. She also leaves loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her father, Paul J. O'Connor, her step father, Frank Mastromatteo, and by a sister, Gail Godek. Kathleen was born in Worcester, and was raised in Shrewsbury, where she graduated from Shrewsbury High School. She later attended nursing school through Quinsigamond Community College.

Kathleen was a floral designer at Frank's Flower Shop in Worcester for many years. She enjoyed her cats, was an avid reader, and loved music. She found peace, fun, and happiness for many years enjoying her summers in a simple cottage on Cape Cod.

The funeral for Kathleen will be held Wednesday, May 20, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, (tonight) May 19, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
