My sweet sister, Lottie, 25, was riddled with ails from the day she was born. Yet, not only did she outlive her prognoses many times over, she lived each moment of her life to its fullest. She did her best at everything she did - no matter how large or small. She is one of the most courageous and determined people I have ever known, never faltering, never complaining, but always persevering. When she was nine and her dear sister Ida passed, she was right at her side. When she faced life without Ida, knowing she might very well die the same way, she pushed on. It never occurred to her to give up. She matured, often taking a lead role alongside her Mama Alison in the workings of their household, always acutely aware of what was happening for everyone, and of what needed to be done.
In her last few weeks, Lottie faced more challenges, each more difficult than the last. When healing meant the possibility of losing her leg, she commanded they take it off. When all treatments failed, she told them, "I'm done, and I want to go home," knowing exactly what that meant. Lottie never wasted time fretting, or procrastinating. That life-long ability to lead, and to "do what must be done", no matter how painful or challenging, was a legacy to which Lottie adhered right to the end. And, ultimately, it was not about herself that she worried, but how her Mama Peg and her siblings were faring at home. She may have left this world, but her powerful presence remains, even as she reunites with her long-missed sister, Ida.
Lottie adored her dog, Kiku, enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law Cindy, and was an excellent dog trainer and groomer. She loved horse-back riding, hiking, camping, cooking, and could tell you anything there was to know about animals, nature, and science. When she wasn't at doctor's appointments or helping around the house, she found great pleasure in watching WWE, particularly Sin Cara, boxing, specifically Manny Pacquiao, and Harry Potter. She loved playing Final Fantasy games, listening to Nickelback, and never, ever lost her love for lions.
I am honored to have taken part in Lottie's life, to have not only been privy to her humor and sarcastic wit, but to that more vulnerable tenderness and big heart.
We will never forget you, Lottanya, our little hummingbird that darted to and fro. Our deepest sympathies to my Mom, to Alison, and to all of my younger siblings up north.
Love, Tammy and Denise

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Lottie. I always enjoyed seeing her and Bea when they came into the town office to register their dogs. Lottie was always very sweet and you could see her passion for Kiku. My deepest sympathy to you all.
