I didn't know about Marion's passing until now. She's always in my thoughts. May her memory be eternal.

I will always have a special place in my heart for Marion. She's the one who hired me to work in the Learning Assistance Center at QCC. That was the start of a rewarding career at the college. Enjoyed our time together before she retired. She was a great storyteller with a witty sense of humor. Always approachable and personable. I miss her and think of her often. I have something to remember her by which I will always cherish and, of course, there's all the great memories.

God rest her soul.

Marion, we think a lot alike. Thank you for your kindhearted persistence in helping others. Thanks, also, for sending your fine son, Joseph, my way -- he has been a lifelong friend. Rest in God's ineffable embrace.

I first met Marion as a student at Quinsigamond Community College. She was my coordinator through Disability Services. I always struggled alot with school being a disabled student and there were even a lot of people that thought I would never get through school. Thanks to Marion assigning me this one tutor/notetaker named Ed I developed a passion for history and got my associates degree in general studies from Quinsig and then I also went on to Worcester State University and got my bachelor's degree in history and now thanks to an undergrad professor I had in history at WSU I am currently working towards a master's degree in history with the goal of becoming a history professor. But it will always be Marion that I will have to give credit too for giving me the right help as a student at QCC that first got me to the success I have now. Thank you Marion I will never forget you.

Dear "Joey, Jamie and Johnny" - I was so sorry to learn of your mom's passing. When I read the other entries I had to laugh when her whistle was mentioned! I, too, can still hear it. Summers on Lincoln Ave were always better after you arrived.

Joseph, John, and James,
I was privileged to know your mother when I was head counselor at Doherty H.S. in the 70's. She was not only a consummate professional, but a friend and mentor. She provided an oasis of stability during turbulent times.
My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Marion Bergin left a mark on us all, all the children who grew up on Coolidge Rd and down at the end of Coombs. I don't think I knew what a strong, intelligent, independent woman was until I began to appreciate everything she accomplished, and that came after she was the surrogate mother of us all for the many years we played together outside and inside the Bergin house and after I had grown up. I can hear her penetrating whistle as I write this, I remember her voice. To understand what a remarkable woman this was, look at her three sons, and then look at all her "other children", the whole big crowd of us that gathered around the skirts of the Bergin household for all our childhood. None of us will forget her. May she rest in peace.

To Marion's Family,
I feel so blessed that I was able to spend time with such a "special" lady and get to know her over the past year and a half. Our Friday mornings together in West Boylston always brightened my day.
I will miss her and remember her forever. My sincere sympathy.

Johnny, Joe and Jamie- Your mom was like a second mother to all the the Newton Sq urchins who loved escaping to that dead end oasis on Coombs Road. Her kindness, fondue and open door policy will always be remembered with great fondness. RIP, Ma Bergin.
