Melanie Desiata Obituary
She leaves her husband of 12 years, Robert J. Desiata; 3 children all at home, Cali, Cameron, and Chase; her parents, Rosemary B. (Lessard) and John F. Ridler; her brother, Kevin Ridler; a nephew, Jacob Tilleman, her paternal grandmother, Mary Ridler Heuer, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.
She was born in Worcester and was a graduate of Burncoat Dance Magnet Program. She received degrees from Dean College in Franklin and Becker College in Worcester.
She was member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagle #4311. She had a passion for dance, loved baseball, and football. She was a loving mother, daughter, wife, and sister, and friend.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, will be from 5-8 p.m., Monday, May 24. The funeral will be held from Nordgren Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, May 25, with a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Rosary, 23 Fales Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Our hearts go out to both families. Melanie had lived an amazing life even though it was rather short. She was a great friend; she was the kind of friend that stood by you when you needed somebody to be there. What is it that we remember when we think of Melanie? It was her sense of humor. She was the kind of person that would make everyone laugh so hard that they’d end up crying. Also her big smile and her wonderful hugs. Melanie was well-loved and she had done so many things on earth and I’m sure she’ll do much more in heaven. I will forever be grateful to have known Melanie. Melanie will forever be missed but I know in the right time, we will meet her again. We will all meet her again and she’ll make us laugh in tears again. I have fond memories of Melanie and Kevin from Fairhaven Road. Kevin was the cool and tuff and his little sister was pretty and full of moxie. As we all walked up the hill of Fairhaven after another day at Greendale school, which seemed so big back then, all the kids would peel off to their respective houses. I can see Mrs. Riddler awaiting Melanie to arrive at the front door as she did day after day. I think my younger brother Matthew, closer to her age had a crush on her, for her beautiful face and smile makes that seem natural in retrospect. In the present tense, may her children carry-on the spirit of their Mom with both the inner and outer beauty that Melanie has passed on to them. Mrs. Riddler awaited for her Melanie, now her grandchildren in the same fashion of youth and innocence at the front door. I will know, with resolve that Mrs. Riddler and family with keep Melanie alive in her childrens mind with stories of her life that touched all of us at different times. I myself, belief that with Melanie not with us on the earth, will continue to be with her family and above all children as the materal engery and love will be with them in the way only a mother, like Mrs.Riddler at the front door on Fairhaven, awaiting her little girl, can and will have. Melanie has already and will continue to watch over and touch her three children as they procede on the paths in life on earth with the rest of us=their family of many.
