Melissa Hoey-Setterlund Obituary
PAXTON - Melissa A. Hoey-Setterlund, 44, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 after an illness. She was born and raised in Worcester and had lived in Worcester before moving to Paxton.
She leaves her loving husband of 19 years, Matthew J. Setterlund; three children, Zachary, Shannon and Riley Setterlund; her parents, John J. and Donna M. (Redmond) Hoey; two brothers, Michael and Ryan Hoey; a sister, Michele Hoey, all of Worcester; her grandmother, Stella "Babcia" Hoey of Worcester; several nephews and nieces, including Brianne Hoey of Paxton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Melissa graduated from St. Peter Marian High School and she earned a Bachelor's Degree in International Business from Assumption College, both in Worcester. She was a medical claims examiner at UltraBenefits, Inc in Worcester for thirteen years before her illness. Previously, she worked at Allmerica Financial.
At her request, funeral services are private and will be followed by a committal service at Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mass General Hospital Development Office, Attn: Colon Cancer Research, 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114. I am so very sorry to learn of Melissa's passing. I grew up around the corner from the Hoeys and went to school with Melissa, one grade behind. I remember her fondly and am deeply saddened to know that her life was cut far too short. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, and especially her husband and children. I am so very, very sorry for your loss.

TO MY SISTER
Life will never be the same, even in a crowd I still feel alone.
My heart is empty forever broken; my nights are sleepless crying in my pillow I wish I had more time. I wish I could hug you and see your face again, but now I just have memories which will never be replaced. You fought and you suffered everyday and night. While we all prayed for that miracle that never came. The morning mom called me the disease finally won. She said you looked peaceful your suffering is done. I prayed and I pleaded to trade places with you I would have in a heart beat you still had lots of living to grow. Mickey Magic or Pixie Dust I gave it a try but now you have wings your a angel in the sky!!!! feeling lost.
