My father was a kind, loving, generous, humble, and selfless man. He had a deep concern for the welfare of others. I am heartbroken about having lost him, and reflectingon how quickly life can change.
He liked to make everyone happy, was dependable, gave generously of his time, and he had a great work ethic. He was devoted to his profession and did some very important work related to the defense of our country.
He was a dignified man. Even during his final days, when I spoke with him, if he could not hear me he'd say "I beg your pardon".
As he became less responsive I remember him touching his eye and ear, during our FaceTime chats, when I asked if he could hear me. I will remember that as him communicating that he could hear me, and felt sad.
Family was all important to him. He was devoted to teaching them, and sharing his philosophy and values, as well as his keen sense of humor. He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He was sometimes cynical, but still an optimist.
He possessed, and demonstrated, the six pillars of an ethical character; trustworthiness, respect, fairness, caring, and citizenship, and he instilled them in me.
His intellect was high and broad, as was his commitment to develop his children's.He ensured that his girls were properly educated so as to pursue their dreams. I am a success because he was my father, and I am so greatful.
He loved his family above all, and they were his most important concerns. I respect and love him dearly for that.
Time apart alters us, even creating a sense of loneliness in our most important relationships. It's about a parent who is getting older, who gets sick, and then the distance. We didn't live in the same space, and could only have brief windows of time together. I felt so far away.
Death forcesmeditation on the parent-child relationship. I will cherish my memories of him, of us, and I will miss him tremendously for the rest of my life.
Rest in peace, Dad. You are loved.
