Nancy Genelli Obituary

Nancy (Tagliaferri) Genelli, 88

West Boylston - Nancy (Tagliaferri) Genelli, 88, passed away peacefully into the hands of her Lord on Monday, March 25, 2019 while in the loving care of her family and the compassionate staff at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born and raised in Fitchburg, Nancy was the daughter of Neno and Carmeline (Delmolino) Tagliaferri and lived over 50 years in West Boylston.

Nancy was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester. As a registered nurse, Nancy amazingly balanced her family life and her chosen profession which spanned over 45 years. After meeting and accepting a nursing position at Oakdale Nursing Home in the late 1950's, Nancy became lifelong friends with Antoinette "Toni" Andriski, the administrator and owner of the home. Her unwavering love and compassion, sense of humor, strong will and dedication to the nursing profession were the hallmarks of her career. It has been said that "When you're a nurse you know that every day you will touch a life or a life will touch you." Nancy has left an indelible mark of love in the lives that she so tenderly cared for and touched throughout the years. Until just recently, Nancy would still get together monthly for lunch with her retired nursing friends from Oakdale.

Her life was centered on her family and a strong faith in God. She was a proud mother and grandmother and was considered their biggest fan. Her pragmatic nature, along with her strong determination, was a constant inspiration to her family. Raising six children and managing a demanding career showcased her resiliency and perseverance. As a devout Catholic, Nancy was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston, its Prayer Shaw Ministry, St. Vincent de Paul Pro Life, Women's Club and served as a RICA sponsor. She was an avid reader and was a member of the Friends of Beaman Library. After her retirement at the age of 73, you could find her reading at the Beaman Memorial Public Library or playing bingo at the West Boylston Senior Center where she would also volunteer her time. She also managed to travel throughout the years including trips to Italy, Ireland and three sojourns to the "Holy Land." Her biggest gift to us all was her remarkable ability to listen and make you feel as though there was no one more important!

She will be affectionately remembered and missed by her three sons, John F. Genelli, Jr. and partner Paula Bruhn of West Boylston, James M. Genelli and his wife Pamela of Hubbardston and Jeffery P. Genelli of West Boylston; three daughters, Mary C. Genelli of Orange Park, FL, Anne M. Genelli of Spencer and Julie A. Holbrook and her husband, Donald of Rutland; two brothers, John J. Tagg and Joseph D. Tagg and his wife, Connie all of Oxford; her twin sister, Norma Caron of Northborough; seven grandchildren, John Genelli, Jessica Faulkner and her husband, Richard, Nicholas and Matthew Genelli, Kaci, Dustin and Brandon Holbrook; two great grandchildren, Gianna and Ruby Faulkner.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Nancy's family from 4 to 7 pm. On Wednesday, March 27, at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, March 28, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nancy's name to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston, MA 01583, or Friends of Beaman Library, 8 Newton St., West Boylston, MA 01583. Dear Annie,

I was so sad to hear of your mother's passing but, from what I know of her, she lived her "dash" well and in her own special way.
I'll be thinking of you and your family and keeping you all in my prayers.

Love, Donna

I am very sorry about your loss. Nancy was the most caring and compassionate woman I ever knew. She was thoughtful and considerate of other peoples feelings all the time. She would come up with great ideas for her church. She loved God and loved life living everyday as the Lord would want her to. She helped me get through tough times when my mother was in the nursing home explaining to me that it was for the best. She helped me with my health issues and I knew I could go to her with any question I had. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She had a heart of gold.
