Paul Chouinard Obituary

Paul H. Chouinard, 82

Worcester - In the late evening hours of Wednesday, October 24th, Paul Henri Chouinard passed peacefully while in the care of his loving children and their families in the home that he cherished. He was 82.

Paul was born in Township # 14, a remote part of Aroostook County, Maine, one of 8 children born to Zotique and Irene (Blanchet) Chouinard, moving back and forth between Maine and Quebec as a young boy. As a young teenager, Paul began working to help the family financially. He took a job as a lumberjack and sawmill worker in the deep woods of Maine, where the crews had to cut, saw and build their living quarters to get out of the elements. Several years later, Paul relocated to the Worcester area with acquaintances from Maine. He settled among the many French Canadian families that had settled in the city. He enlisted in the US Army in the post Korean ware error, serving two years and then serving several more with the Massachusetts National Guard. Upon his return, Paul was introduced to a beautiful young French Canadian girl from Marlborough, and soon the wed. Together, he and his beloved wife, Gloria A. (Moquin) would share 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. Together, they enjoyed travelling throughout the country, as well as taking cruises.

Paul was truly a jack of all trades. Always good with his hands and tools, Paul loved to putter and tinker around his home. He also turned this type of work into full time employment. In the early years in Worcester, Paul worked for Dauphanais Concrete in North Grafton and Meola Milk in West Boylston. In 1965 he established Paul Chouinard Cleaning Services, specializing in residential and light commercial cleaning as well as handyman services for his customers and assisting as caretaker at a property in Shrewsbury retiring in 1996. Paul was a faith filled Catholic and member of Saint Christopher Parish in Worcester. He loved to follow his beloved Boston sports teams, and was able to watch one last Red Sox game on Wednesday evening.

He will be lovingly missed by his two children, Jacqueline M. Chouinard of Worcester and Michael P. Chouinard and his wife, Catherine of Grafton; his brother, Alain Chouinard of Quebec; his three sisters, Lise Leblanc, Ginette Lebel and Denise Robichaud, of the Quebec area. He was the proud pépère to Noel Heroux of NYC, NY and Caitlin Chouinard of Grafton. He was predeceased by his brother, Gaetan and his two sisters, Nicole Leclerc and Lily Chouinard.

Family and friends are invited to attend Paul's Life Celebration visiting hours on Monday, October 29th from 4-7 p.m. at the Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street, West Boylston. Services will be held privately on Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, (www.cancer.org), 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. To Jackie and Mike,
I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad.
Paul was a great man and through the many years I always enjoyed the many times we stopped and shared as neighbors. Memories of talking about one thing or another throughout all out seasons of each year and even years of our lives. Winter's snow removal, cutting hedges, house renovations, he was always there with a kind word or sharing a story. Time passes so quickly, through it all your father was like a rock. Steadfast in his love and devotion to his family and faith. Always willing and always able to help. You've been blessed to have him as your Dad and so too have all who knew him. Our sincere condolences to you both and your family. He will missed but never forgotten. Love and peace to you all..
