Paul Lorion Obituary
SHREWSBURY - Paul John Lorion, 83, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Care One of Millbury. Paul's family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Care One for the wonderful care they provided.
He was born in Worcester, son of Lyman and Ruth (Ward) Lorion and graduated from Shrewsbury High School. Growing up on Lake Quinsigamond in Shrewsbury, Paul was an avid fisherman for his whole life. Starting from a young age, you could find him fishing from a boat, from the shore or just relaxing with a fishing rod on his dock. He loved the water. He also fished the Quabbin and other waterways throughout Massachusetts, both fresh and saltwater. He passed that love of the water and fishing on to his daughters who he would take, at a young age, to the Cape Cod Canal for the mackerel run or just walk the shores "poking" things and finding treasures. He was a great dad and was always ready to take his girls out for an adventure.
That love of water led him to join the US Navy in October of 1956. Paul shipped out of Boston, ironically on the USS Boston CAG-1 Guided Missile Cruiser. After one year, he was transferred to the Battleship USS Iowa BB61 where he served the remainder of his four years as a fire control technician. He loved that ship and was always ready to tell his wonderful stories and backed them up with pictures. He was honorably discharged in October 1960.
Paul worked in the manufacturing industry throughout his life. He was employed at Rollmet in California; a manufacturer of aerospace and defense assembly parts. He was very proud to have machined one of the Apollo Space Capsules while there. He later worked at Collyer Wire in Lincoln, RI and Crucible Steel in Auburn, MA before retiring.
Paul is survived by his children; Jennifer Lorion, Chelsea Miller and her husband Joel, Danielle Lorion, Tami and Susan, and a grandson, Julian Paul Desrosiers. He also leaves his brother Barry J. Lorion, Sr. and his wife Mary, his former wife and constant friend, Marianne Svedberg, and nephews and nieces and his beloved bird Sprocket. Paul was predeceased by his brother Roger D. Lorion and a sister, Susan M. Walton.
Visiting Hours to Celebrate Paul's life will be held Thursday, May 20th from 5-7pm at Lindquist Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street, Worcester. Paul's Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 21st at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery.
Because of Paul's love of being outdoors, especially with his family by his side, his family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, set aside some time to appreciate a beautiful sunrise, sunset, or just sit quietly and listen to nature alongside those you love.

I was shocked not to hear about this. I just happened to look up my dad's obituary for some reason and saw that Paul had passed away in May. My condolences go out to his family. My dad passed away on May 12th of 2011...almost the same day 10 years later. So sad

My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire family. I have many fond memories of times spent with Paul on Lake Q water-skiing and fishing and just having good times. His loss brings much sadness. God Bless.

We'll miss you, Paul. You were a great dad. The girls enjoyed every adventure you took them on. To this day, when taking long rides, when we all come to a point where we have to take a right or left at a fork, it's you we think of when we go for the unknown road to see where it leads. Thanks for teaching that to the girls and taking the fear of the unknown and turning into another adventure.
