Paul Thomas Obituary
WORCESTER - Paul F. Thomas, 22, of Worcester, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at home after a long struggle with substance addiction.
He leaves his parents, Edward R. and Mary E. (McKernan) Thomas, with whom he lived; his nine siblings, Therese and her husband Austin Roberts of Arlington, Texas, Peter M. Thomas and his fiancée Sydney Simons of Plymouth, John S. Thomas of Worcester, Joseph E. Thomas of Long Beach, Calif., Rose E. Thomas of Orlando, Fla., and Monica M., Matthew J., Catherine B. and Andrew L. Thomas, all of Worcester; his nephews Luke and Damian; his niece Reagan; his paternal grandmother Helen L. Thomas of North Grafton; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Paul has lived in Worcester all his life. He was a parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the Worcester Public Schools. His parents are grateful to the staffs at Doherty High School and the Gerald Creamer Center for never giving up on Paul during challenging times in his life.
Paul enjoyed his work as a landscaper. He was also employed as a lifeguard for the City of Worcester. He played lacrosse for several years. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, skateboarding and snowboarding. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his two young nephews, and had been looking forward to meeting his new niece.
There will be a funeral Mass on Saturday, December 15, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, Paul's family suggests donations to St. John's Church to support Hotel Grace, a winter shelter program at the church at 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604.
The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Dearest Mary Beth, Ed and family,
I am so saddened to hear about your loss. I am fully confident that the Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us all has enveloped Paul and that he is safe and happy in the arms of Our Lord. I still cant believe your gone paul. you were just talking to me a week ago about how proud you were of my music and me spreading positivity. I cant help but feel like it was just yesterday we were in school hanging out or out skating around worcester or greenhill being goof balls having a blast this is truly heart breaking you will be dearly missed. To Ed and Mary Beth and all of the Thomas family: Our family is so saddened to hear of Paul's death. We cannot imagine what you all are going through right now. We hope and pray that you can find the strength to get through this heartbreaking time. I have many fond memories of Paul, especially as a kid, going to the beach with our family and cookouts. Mike and I remember chaperoning him and my brother Pete to go to the Four Years Strong concert when they were about 11 or 12 years old and his sweet innocence being at a rock concert. I'll never forget the last time, we saw him at Pete's graduation party this summer where he gave me a hug and I reflected that he still was a had grown into a kind young man. I wish that you did not have to go through this pain right now, but I hope that you all can find peace in that Paul was a kind soul who touched the lives of those around him.
