Pauline Beatrice (Stanchus) Plainte, 93
Brookfield - Pauline Beatrice (Stanchus) Plainte, 93 of Brookfield and Nettles Island, Florida passed away June 26 at the Overlook Rehabilitation Center in Charlton, MA. She was the beloved wife of Lyle D. Plainte who died in 1983.
Pauline was born in Worcester, July 30, 1918 to the late Petras and Lindwika (Baguskas) Stanchus. Pauline leaves 3 sons, Lyle A., & his wife Joyce of Hardwick, Dixon & his wife Judy of Groveland and Brandon & his wife Cindy of Sterling; two daughters, Mary Ellen Don & companion Fernando Rodrigues of Warren, RI. and Sandra wife of Roger Laverdiere of Ware 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. She is also survived by her last remaining childhood relative, her beloved cousin, Eugene Baguskas of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Taylor. Pauline graduated (class of 1937 A) from the former Commerce H.S. After graduation she attended classes at Becker College and joined the Hodes market as their bookkeeper. Pauline and Lyle settled and raised their Family in the lake Quaboag area of Brookfield. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Mary's Church. Pauline also served on the Tantasqua School committee. As a member of the Brookfield Bicentennial Committee she arranged the committees visit to Washington and joined in their presentation of the town's Bicentennial event to then President Richard Nixon. As a business woman she operated the families' real estate business and formed the successful Worcester County Temps Agency which she managed until retirement. Pauline was proud of her Lithuanian heritage and passed down those feelings to her children. She was an avid reader and a great story teller. She loved music and the theatre particularly the musicals. Pauline was a member of the Worcester Chorus and performed with them for several years. She was an accomplished artist with many of her oils hanging on family walls. Pauline touched many with her love and compassion during her life and her spirit will be missed. The family gives special thanks to the people that make up the Summit Eldercare program and also the folks at Overlook Rehab Center for the care and compassion shown to our Mom during her time of need; to Brookfield neighbors Dick Petraitis, Arthur Prefontaine and Paul Puliafico for your many years of loving support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6-8PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home. Rte 9/Old West Brookfield Rd., Brookfield. The Funeral will be held on Friday from the Funeral home with a Mass at 10:00AM in Sacred Heart Church in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, 22 West Main St., West Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Pauline to the Friends of Merrick Public Library, on the common, Brookfield, MA 01506. To offer a condolence or share a memory please visit

I am so sad to hear of your passing...you were one of the strongest women in my life, and though we didnt see each other often, you were allways on the other end of the phone...Allways concerned for everybody elses needs, you have been a great roll model for me.Ill miss our chats about art, and the silly things you, uncle Lyle and mom and dad did when you were just a bit younger!
