Philip Pomeroy Obituary

Philip "Phil"
Eddie Pomeroy
MASHPEE - Philip "Phil" Eddie Pomeroy, of Chart Way, Mashpee (formally of Bolton, MA), passed away peacefully at his home on July 28, 2013, with his family by his side, after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was the husband of Patricia (Kelley) Pomeroy, to whom he was married 46 years. Born in Needham, MA on August 20, 1945, he was the only son of the late John Eddie Pomeroy and the late Sylvia D. (Geib) Pomeroy.
He was educated in the Framingham Schools, graduating from Framingham South High School in 1964. He also attended night courses at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell for six years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving from 1966 to 1969. After leaving the service, Phil was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation "DEC" in Maynard, Marlboro and Hudson. While at "DEC", he worked within the marketing and engineering departments for 16 years. He left "DEC" in 1985 to run and own a printing business, Ad-Print of Medway. In 2005, he sold the business to retire to Cape Cod (New Seabury).
Phil loved the outdoors, managing the gardens, keeping everything in running condition, both inside and out, working out at a local gym, and keeping his automobiles in pristine condition. He especially enjoyed his 1987 Porsche. Phil and Pat have been longtime members of the Northeast Region Porsche Club of America. With this club, they drove in many rallies throughout New England. Phil was also proud of his garage. Collecting automobile memorabilia was an on-going project which he truly enjoyed.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Craig and his wife Lane of Leominster, MA; two grandchildren, Kendra Pomeroy and Tanner Pomeroy. He also leaves aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. at Route 151, Mashpee, MA. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, August 1st beginning at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Great Neck Woods Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil's memory to the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, 255 Independence Dr., Hyannis, MA 02601 or to VNA Hospice and Palliative Care, Route 134, Suite D-3, South Dennis, MA 02660
Phil's family would like to thank their friends in New Seabury for their love and support. Phil and Pat express a deep appreciation to their friends from the gym, especially his "buddy" Walter, friends at the 99 Restaurant, the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod, Hospice and Palliative Care and Care from the Heart.
