Renate Shrivastava Obituary

Renate (Mautsch) Shrivastava, age 77

WORCESTER - After a short illness, Renate (Mautsch) Shrivastava, 77, died peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Oasis at Dodge Park in Worcester. Born on January 27, 1944 in Aussig, Czechoslovakia, she fled as a refugee to North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany after World War II.

At the age of 18, she fell in love with England and decided to move there where she eventually began to pursue a degree in nursing. It was during her training that she met her future husband, Satish, who was completing his medical training. The couple married in 1965 and lived in England, Scotland and India before settling in Worcester in 1971 with their two daughters. Renate went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Assumption College in 1988. For 25 years she worked in the billing department at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Renate was a committed member of First Congregational Church in Holden where she leaves many close friends. She was a passionate reader and gardener. She loved to spend time in nature and above all else, she had an unending curiosity and loved to learn. Her wealth of knowledge and her abundance of stories are well known to all who knew her.

Renate will be lovingly missed and remembered by her husband of 56 years, Satish C. Shrivastava; her daughters, Anjana Shrivastava and her partner, Harald Hentrich of Berlin and Sheila Shrivastava and her husband, David Gill of New York, NY; and her grandchildren, Indira Geisel, Emma Gill and Helene Gill.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service honoring and celebrating Renate's life at 11:00 am on Thursday July 22nd at the First Congregational Church of Holden. Interment will immediately follow at Grove Cemetery, Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Congregational Church. 1180 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. To share a memory or offer an online condolence visit

Sheila and Anjana

I just found out about your mother's passing - I am so sorry! As you know, I worked with Renate for several years at St. Vincent and lost touch with her several years ago. She was such a wonderful and kind person, and I loved her stories about her younger years and growing up and when they came to Worcester. My deepest sympathies to both of you and your families and your Dad as well.
