Rene Paul Caron, 86

Lunenburg - Rene Paul Caron, 86, died Saturday, August 11, 2018 at his home with his family at his side, after a long physical decline due to a spinal back fusion.

He was the husband of the late Mary Kathryn (Montville) Caron who died June 4, 1988.

Rene leaves behind a daughter, Laura Caron Gustus and her husband Bill Gustus, and a son, Steve Caron and his wife Valerie Gionet Caron. Rene also had five Grandchildren; Jason Brailsford and his wife Mariah, Tanya Eberlin and her husband Craig, Ryan Caron and JT Daniels, Kenneth Caron and his wife Jackie Blizzard-Caron, and Colleen Caron. Rene also enjoyed seven step-grandchildren, Kristin Trumble, Casey Gustus, Kelly Gustus Pierce, John Gustus, Tim Gustus, Mike Gustus, and Jeff Gustus and nine great-grandchildren Tanner Eberlin, Tabitha Eberlin, Quentin Eberlin, Nova Pierce, Harper Pierce, Lily Gustus, Indie Pierce, Jack Gustus and Ryan Gustus.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Andre Caron and Henri Caron and three sisters Florence LeBlanc, Lorraine Favreau and Theresa Caron.

Rene was born in Fitchburg on July 27, 1932 a son of the late Odule G. and Exerine C. (Dauphinais) Caron. He graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1950. He served during the Korean War in the US Army as a Corporal Medic. He worked for New England Telephone Company for 30 years as a Toll Testman. He was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the IBEW.

Rene loved to golf, especially when wintering in Winter Garden, Florida from 2000 to the present. He was an avid N.E. Patriot's fan and also enjoyed traveling and bowling. He was very creative building many things around his home and doing numerous home improvement projects.

Calling hours will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

His funeral will be held from the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Avenue, Lunenburg, MA, on Thursday, August 16, 2018 with a mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster, MA

Burial will be private at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fitchburg.
