Richard J. Langway, 69

Millbury - Richard J. Langway, 69, died unexpectedly in his home on Sunday, November 13, 2016, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Linda J. (Morello) Langway; two children: Jill S. Dubois and her husband, J. Andre Dubois, and Jason R. Langway and his fiancee, Rebecca L. Ives, all of Millbury; two grandchildren: Aiden J. Dubois and Asa E. Dubois, both of Millbury; three brothers: Chester C. Langway, Jr., and Joseph H. Langway, both of Harwich, and Robert W. Langway of Southborough; a sister, Mary C. Policastro of North Brunswick, NJ; and nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey R. Langway; a brother, Paul W. Langway; and three sisters: Phyllis R. Johnson, Patricia A. Fox, and H. Janice Lavallee.

Born in Millbury on March 5, 1947, he was a lifelong resident of the town. He graduated from Millbury Memorial High School in the Class of 1965 and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine tender USS FULTON (AS-11) during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

Mr. Langway worked for 43 years as a building contractor and owned and operated C. Langway Contractors of Millbury. He retired in 2012.

He was a member of the Black Patch Muzzle Loaders, the Millbury Old Timers, and Assumption Catholic Parish of Millbury. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, antiquing, gardening, and the occasional casino trip.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 19, in St. Brigid Cemetery, Waters Street Extension, corner of West and River Streets, Millbury. There are no calling hours. Instead of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Centralized Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen Street, Framingahm, MA 01701 (www.cancer.org).
