Richard Lavallee Obituary

Richard R. Lavallee, 86

Worcester - Richard R. Lavallee, 86, of Worcester, died on Sunday, January 1st in the Overlook Masonic Home after an illness.

Mr. Lavallee is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley M. (Arell) Lavallee; a son, Robert Lavallee of Oxford and Richard Lavallee; a daughter, Debra O'Clair of Spencer; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Mr. Lavallee was born in Auburn, MA son of the late Israel and Cecile (Doucette) Lavallee and is also predeceased by 6 brothers, Robert Lavallee, Henry Lavallee, Ernest Lavallee, Leo Lavallee, Edward Lavallee and Russell Lavallee and 2 sisters, Arlene Forgit and Rose Lavallee.

Richard attended Worcester Boys Trade High School and is a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Army.

Mr. Lavallee worked as both a truck driver and a maintenance worker for the E.L. Dauphinais Concrete Company. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 170 and Sacred Heart – Saint Catherine of Sweden Church. Richard was an accomplished woodworker and took great pride in making small-scale wooden toy vehicles.

The family of Mr. Lavallee would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Overlook Hospice that helped take care of Richard in the final part of his life. The care, compassion and love that was shown to the Lavallee family was appreciated.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 5th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home with a Mass at 11 AM in Sacred Heart – Saint Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge St. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 4th from 5 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Lavallee may be made to Overlook Hospice, 88 Masonic Home Road, Charlton, MA 01507.
