Robert Caplette Obituary
WEBSTER - Robert C. Caplette, 84, of 20 Batton St., died Friday, July 18,2014 at his home .
His wife of 49 years, Rita(Pronto) Caplette died in 1999.
He leaves two sons: Randall Caplette and his wife Jennifer of Webster, Robert Caplette of Webster, one daughter: Robin and her husband Carlton Joppas of Webster, one sister: Christine O'Malley of Va.
2 Grandchilldren Kaylah Brace and Carlton Joppas; 1 great grandchild Sophia Joppas
Predeceased by Son, Richard Caplette and daughter, Tammy Caplette
He was born in Webster, MA, the son of the late Felix Caplette and Louise Deausome.
Robert was a merchant marine during the Korean War . A semi- pro boxer in Massachusetts and sparing partner for Rocky Marciano . He enjoyed many years training horses at farms in upstate New York.He was an Iron worker for 30 years at Wyman Gordon plant in Grafton . He was the last living member of the team that built the casing for the atomic bombs.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday July 26 at 11 AM in Rochs Church, 334 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. There are no calling hours.
