Richard J. Caplette

Richard J. Caplette, 81, of Tobyhanna, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was the husband of Sharongail (Green) Caplette, they were married on December 7th 1968.
Born August 23, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, one of thirteen children of the late Joseph and Alice (McGonigle) Caplette. He was a resident of Monroe County since 1986 and prior to that of Rockaway, New Jersey.
He was of the Catholic Faith and was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
Self-employed for much of his life, he took pride in building something from the ground up. For the past 25 years, Rich was affectionately known as the "bread man", delivering fresh baked goods across the Poconos.
Rich found one of his greatest joys in coaching when his children were young. He coached basketball and baseball youth leagues, JV and varsity basketball for his sons and daughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 5 children, Kelly A. Rispoli and her husband Ralph of Dover, Delaware, Keith R Caplette and his wife Elizabeth Ann of Bushkill, Christopher D Caplette and his wife Tara of East Stroudsburg, Corey J Caplette and his wife Jamie of Carlise, Massachusetts, and Kyle T. Caplette of Tobyhanna.
His seven grandchildren are Christian Rispoli, Trevor Rispoli, Avery Caplette, Adrian Caplette, Colin Caplette, August Caplette and Landon Caplette.
Richard is also survived by siblings, Joann Gannon, Adele Lynch, Maureen Akersten, and Thomas Caplette.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM- 3:30 PM. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held immediately following the viewing at the Bensing Thomas Funeral Home, 401 North 5th Street, Stroudsburg with Chaplain Herman Simpson officiating. Cremation will follow.
