Robert Chisholm Obituary

Bob & Dolores Chisholm

West Boylston - Formerly of Holden and Amherst Dolores (Leone) Chisholm, 79, and Robert Chisholm, 78, passed away and went to be with their Lord on Monday, June 25, 2018. Dolores and Bob had been "best friends" for more than sixty years and were happily married for fifty-seven. The high-school sweethearts grew up, and were married in, Medford, and settled in Amherst, where Bob earned his accounting degree at the University of Massachusetts. Thirty-five years later, they moved to Holden, and then retired to West Boylston.

Dolores "Lovey" was kind-hearted and gentle, generous and loving, and a friend to all. She saw only the best in every person she encountered, and opened her heart to everyone. In her professional life, she was a successful and respected realtor for twenty-five years in Amherst. She was a "lady of many hats," with a collection of well over one hundred fancy hats. Her photo, wearing one of her stylish hats, appeared in a long-running ad on the side of one of the five-college-area buses in Amherst. Dolores will be remembered for her huge heart, her devotion to faith and family, and her legendary chocolate chip cookies.

Bob was a Captain in the Amherst Fire Department, then shifted into public safety communications. He finished his public-service career as the Director of Communications for the City of Worcester. Bob was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed playing pool, and sang with the Worcester Men of Song, as well as several other area singing groups. Recently, he was instrumental in securing voter approval for a new Senior Center for West Boylston.

They leave three children: Bob Chisholm and his wife Kathy of Holliston, Debra Brocklebank and her husband Stephen of East Falmouth, Darlene Chisholm and her husband Bart Addis of Belmont and five grandchildren: Drew, Cameron, and Maxwell Chisholm, and Grant and Clark Addis.

They also leave behind their siblings: Jane Gunsbury and her husband Alan of Nisswa, Minnesota; Peter Leone of Seabrook, New Hampshire; Al Rocci of Arlington; Carolyn Tompkins of Framingham; and Paul Leone and his wife Patricia of Stoneham. Also left behind is their brother-in-law Lawrence Vass of Seabrook, New Hampshire. They were pre-deceased by sisters Marion Lively and Patricia Vass. They also leave their cherished nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston, on Saturday, July 14th, at 10:00 AM. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army - Dress A Live Doll Program, in memory of Dolores and Bob Chisholm. Salvation Army, 100 North Street, Hyannis MA 02601.

Bobby, Debbie and Darlene and your families ,

My heart goes out to you, especially at this very difficult time! Your Mom was more than an Aunt to me, she was my friend, and was always there for me to just talk to or to help me out when my Mom went to Heaven! It was so sweet to go and listen to your dad when he sang a Christmas time at Unibank and other times when he sang up the road from us! It showed just how much he enjoyed doing this!!
I am forever grateful to both you Mom and Dad!

June 30, 2018

My condolences to the family. May I the God of comfort grant you strength during this difficult time.

In deepest sympathy for your loss. I was Delores's rheumatologist for many years. I looked forward to our visits. She always exuded such positive energy. She will be missed.

Truly their Loss is a Loss for all Mankind ! Bob was a good boss and even better friend. Recall those Christmas Parties when he would help me set up the DJ equipment then get his group the 'Men of Song" all warmed up for a very Special Evening. 'Til We meet again Bob and Dolores, 'May God hold you in the Palm of His Hand'. With Warmest Regards, Bill Killeen, Hadley, MA
