Robert Moran Obituary
SUTTON - Robert J. Moran Sr., 74 of Sutton, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at St. Vincent's Hospital with his family by his side.
Robert was born and raised in Worcester where he was a graduate of Commerce High School and one of two sons to the late Hugh J. and Ethel (Domiano) Moran, Sr. He began a career as an auto mechanic for Tex's Service Station and was the top technician for Gallo Oldsmobile for many years. Robert later opened Moran's Auto Repair on Shrewsbury Street before moving to Belmont Street. After 43 years, Robert retired in 2008 and his son carries on his legacy as Moran and Son's Auto Repair.
Robert had a love and passion for antique cars and was a very accomplished car building specialist. He went to many car shows and enjoyed motorcycle rides especially in Daytona Beach. Robert loved commercial fishing on Cape Cod waters and summers spent there with family and friends. Robert also enjoyed snowmobiling in his earlier years.
Robert's wife of 41 years, Sally J. (Harrington) Moran passed away on November 3, 2004. He is survived by his longtime companion of 12 years, Denise DiBenedetto of Sutton; his son Robert J. Moran, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Sutton; his daughter Deborah A. Bassett and her husband John of South Grafton; two grandchildren, Christopher and Alexander; many nieces and nephews. Robert was recently predeceased by his brother, Hugh J. Moran, Jr. who passed on July 25, 2017.
Services for Robert will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 9:30 am at St. Mark's Church, Boston Rd, Sutton. Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery, Sutton. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Friday, August 4th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: American Lung Association, National Direct Response Headquarters, 1200 Hosford Street, Suite 101, Hudson, WI. 54016-9316. Bobby and Family,
I just recently found out about your Dad's passing and I am soooo sorry for your loss... there are no "Magic" words to lessen your pain but please know you are NOT alone! I have worked in healthcare for 30 years now and the things I have witnessed in that time I have NO DOUBT that your Dad is "JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE", still watching over you and taking care of you. I know my words may be little comfort right now but as time passes and you feel his presence ( and you will) please allow yourself to believe he IS WITH YOU in those moments and that you will be together again one day and that until then...he is "just on the other side" still loving you as you do him. Bob was a kind man and so are you Bobby and I so appreciate all of the times you both helped me with my car. What you and your Dad chose to do for a living helped all of us continue making a living by having a reliable vehicle.... that is such an honorable trade!!! Please know how much your Dad was appreciated and how proud he was of you and your family!

Our thoughts An prayers are with you and your family at this time. Your dad was a wonderful man An treated everyone fairly. At this moment it seems surreal. That you feel like it's a bubble An he's going to walk threw the next door. But life is not like that. He will be missed his memories will help you threw the days when it hurts the most. His laugh, his smile. An even if you look in the picture of the car on the wall, you might just catch a glimpse of him sitting next to your mom. His presence will fade but his memory will live in your laugh, hour hair style, your eyes. An you will catch glimpses of him as you walk in a store you think that it's him until the person turns around and it's not. That will be him visiting so you don't forget him. An when you catch a glimpse of him say a prayer. Tell him you love him, and miss him. Our bodies may have a timeline but love doesn't. Our thoughts and prays. And until we meet again may the lord hold him in the palm of his hand.
