Roland Berard Obituary

Roland L. Berard, 80
Worcester - Roland L. Berard, 80, passed Thursday November 1, 2012 at his daughter's home in Worcester after being stricken ill. His wife of 40 years Clara I. (Pescosolido) passed in 1995. He leaves two daughters, Donna M. Peacott of Worcester, Julie and her husband Colonel Michael Meier (Ret. US Army) of Mananasas VA; two granddaughters, Rebecca Peacott and Isabella Meier. He was predeceased by his parents, Hector R. and Beatrice L. (Lucier) Berard and his son in law Edward Peacott. Mr. Berard was born June 6, 1932 in Auburn, raised on Grafton Hill in Worcester. He attended schools in Worcester and was a US Army Korean War Combat Veteran serving as a paratrooper and was awarded two Bronze Service Stars. Roland was a tile and marble setter for many years for Bianchi Tile & Marble and Kesselli & Morse Co. He was a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Local # 6 in Boston. He was a member of The American Legion and he enjoyed sailing, dancing and helping many with construction or handiwork projects. Following the passing of his beloved wife Roland traveled to Maine in the summer where he enjoyed great times with several close friends there before going to Ft. Myers, FL where he spent many winters. He always made time during his travels to be with his children and grandchildren who were the love of his life. Flowers may be sent or he may be honored with memorial donations to Veterans Inc., Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
FUNERAL &
CALLING HOURS
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 5th at 11 a.m. in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St. in Worcester. (All attending Monday are politely asked to meet at the church.) He will then be laid to rest with Military Honors at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. All are invited to calling hours at THE RONEY FUNERAL HOME, 152 Worcester St. in North Grafton Sunday, November 4th from 2 to 5 p.m. A personal condolence book may be signed and directions are available at:
