Ruth Budney Obituary

Ruth E. (Bigwood) Budney

HOLDEN - Ruth E. (Bigwood) Budney, 89, of Holden, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12th 2018 in Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after a long fought battle with COPD. Her husband of 39 years, Theodore E. Budney died in 1989. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Budney and her husband, John Kowalchuk, III of Sanbornton, NH, Linda Poole and her husband, Robert of Goffstown, NH and Catherine Friedman and her husband, Philip of Paxton; her son, Christopher Budney and his wife, Michelle of Webster and her daughter-in-law, Dianne Budney of Leicester. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Budney, Alyssa and Tyler Friedman, Christan, Lauren, Ashlyn and Olivia Budney; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Ruth and Thomas William and her special little friend, Molly Harrington; as well as two sisters, June Dumas of Holden and Margaret Conley and her husband, Robert of Rockhill, SC; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Bigwood of West Warwick, RI and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her children, Stephen E. Budney, James A. Budney and Margaret Budney; and her brothers and sisters, Laura Taylor, David Bigwood, Gertrude Bositis, Donald Bigwood, Robert Bigwood, Betty Garofalo and John Bigwood.

She was born in Spencer, the daughter of Carlos and Loretta (McGee) Bigwood. Ruth enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, time spent at the camp in Sanbornton, the activities and events at Holden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; but most of all enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

To know Ruthie was to love Ruthie, you could not have asked for a better and more caring Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt or friend! Her outlook on life was amazing, steadfast and ever present. We have all been blessed to know Ruthie and she will be greatly missed.

Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to all her caregivers at Oriol Health Care for the exceptional care they provided and making her stay there fun and comforting.

Her funeral is Monday, September 17th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with her funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Her calling hours are Sunday, September 16th from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Diane, so sorry to hear of the passing of your lovely Mother. I walked you to school when you were in kindergarten and visited your Mom a couple times on Webster St. To show her my beautiful daughter. You were fortunate to have her for so long.
