EAST DOUGLASS - BEST MOM IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD

Ruth Elizabeth Crothers Del Negro, 85, of East Douglas, MA, died peacefully Friday, May 2, 2014.

She was born to the late James and Agnes Cleland Crothers, June 25, 1928 in Whitinsville, MA. Ruth moved to East Douglas from Whitinsville when she was 6 years old and is a graduate from Douglas High School. She married Robert F. Del Negro in 1958, and they lived together in East Douglas for many years until recently moving to Cape Cod.

Ruth was an accomplished AKC registered dog breeder for over 30 years. She worked at the Whitins Machine Works in Expediting for 10 years and was a Home Health Aide for several years. She devoted herself to a Christian lifestyle and has inspired her family to do the same. Ruth was the most loving and caring person. She loved to travel. Her first trip abroad was to her parents homeland of Northern Ireland in 1955 to reestablish family bonds across the sea. She continued to travel including spending a half year in Hawaii and took cruises with her husband and extended family.

Ruth is survived by her husband Robert and their three sons; Mark and Joan of Centerville, Jonathan and Deborah of Hyannis and David and Sandra of Cotuit. Also she is survived by three grandchildren; Seth Robert, Emily Ruth and Wyatt Cleland, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9 at 4pm at the Osterville Seventh Day Adventist Church, refreshments following. Burial will be held Saturday, May 10, at noon in Pine Grove Cemetery in Whitinsville. All family and friends are welcomed to both services in celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VNA of Cape Cod, 67 Ter Heun Dr., Falmouth, MA 02540.
