Sadie Lavallee Novick

Sadie (Baker) Lavallee Novick, 90, of Worcester, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at UMass-Memorial Medical Center.

She leaves her husband of 41 years, Albert Novick; a daughter, Sandra Bachant and her husband Robert F. Bachant of Broomfield, Colo.; two grandsons, Robert A. Bachant of Montgomery, Ala. and U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Stephen M. Bachant at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, David, Nicole and Joseph Bachant; a niece, Kathleen Walsh, and a nephew, Michael Christy.

Her first husband, Alfred Lavallee, died in 1961. She was also predeceased by a sister Mary Christy and a brother Harry Baker.

Sadie was born in West Medway and grew up in Worcester. She was the daughter of Peter and Bertha (Tetezian) Baker. She attended Belmont Street School and was a 1937 graduate of Commerce High School.

She worked for the City of Worcester in its payroll department for 25 years.

She was involved in many charitable organizations including the Masons, the Shriners and the Grotto. She was an associate member of American Legion Post 318.

Calling hours are Saturday, May 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral service will be Monday, June 1 at 11 a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
