Sarah Denham-Spencer Obituary

Sarah A. (Dean) Denham-Spencer, 106, of Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford died Sunday, June 10, 2007 at The Oaks. She was the wife of the late Arthur C. Spencer and the late James Denham. Born in Dukinfield, England she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Nancy (Lockett) Dean.

Mrs. Spencer had worked for Saint Luke's Hospital for many years as a housemother retiring in 1969. A member of Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church she also had been a former member of the mothers club and the British Society.

She leaves one son, Ronald J. Denham of Leicester, MA; two grandchildren, Mark Denham of Ellicott City, MD and Michael Denham of Leicester, MA; one great-grandson, Tyler James Denham of Ellicott City, MD; one niece, Dorothy Gammans of Fairhaven, MA; one grand-niece, Bay Gammans of Fairhaven, MA; and other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spencer was the sister of the late Samuel Dean, James Dean, Joseph Dean, Annie Hampton, Elizabeth Disbury and Nancy Carr.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m in Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 169 Belleville Road, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ashley Blvd. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:30 a.m in the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, 169 Belleville Road, New Bedford, MA, 02745.
