Shirley Stepien Obituary

Shirley A. (Sneade) Stepien, 61, of Sterling St., died peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, with her family by her side after a long, valiant battle. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Thaddeus J. Stepien of Worcester; her son, Robert J. Mitchell and his wife Nancy of Webster; her parents, Richard I. and Ida A. (DeGaetano) Sneade of North Oxford; nine brothers and sisters, Richard Sneade Jr. of Sutton, Beverly Bayer of Charlton, John Sneade of Oxford, Barbara Sergeant of Oxford, Janet Elbag of Dudley, Deborah Brynn of Dudley, Tom Sneade of Phoenix, AZ, Maryellen Langway of Oxford, and Donna Passmore of Phoenix, AZ; two grandsons, Bobby and Joshua Mitchell of Webster; her mother-in-law, Irena Stepien of Worcester; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Sneade and Dennis Sneade, both of Oxford. She was born in Worcester, and was raised in Oxford before moving to Worcester many years ago.

Mrs. Stepien had remained at home for the past several years caring for her mother-in-law. Previously, she worked in many local food establishments. She was an avid Red Sox fan, and will be remembered as a loving and caring person.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2008, at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be at a later date at North Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
