Dear Beth:

We never met, but I remeber Steve well. I am now in Richmond, VA, but some years ago took the first Facing History weeklong seminar with Steve in Brookline when I was also a Jewish Educator, in Malden. Steve and I had a long heart-to-heart about hte challenges of raising children with phsical and develomental challenges.I remember being inspired by his faith and determination.

I am so sorry for your loss and know that Steve's giving spirit will live on in the memories of the many students, colleagues and friends he touched.

May you be comforted among the mourners of zion and Jerusalem

Beth:
My family and I were saddened to hear of Steve's too soon passing. Ben and Jason had so enjoyed him in the Tefilah band on Shabbat mornings. Andy and I remember many coffee house nights he would join in with the music. Such a dedicated person and our community will feel his absence for a very long time.
We wish you well during this difficult time and hope that the love and support of family and friends will carry you through and give you strength.

Eileen Cohen said it so well. We at Temple Sinai, Sharon felt very fortunate to have Steve at our temple. He was my son's hebrew school teacher, music teacher, and choir director. Everyone said he was beaming this past Sunday, as the youth choir performed at Mitzvah Day, under Steve's direction. My son is going to camp this summer, and was looking forward to seeing a familiar face in Steve, the Music Director there. They got along very well, and he said Steve had taught him so much. They had a wonderful repoire. He was a familiar presence in our temple, and left a strong mark. What always amazed me is that Steve would come from Westboro to Sharon, not minding the distance because he was doing something he enjoyed so much. Beth, we are sorry to hear about Steve, and we wanted to pass along our condolences, and prayers to you at this time.

Steve was a special guy, and a good friend. I well remember making music with him at CAJE conferences, and when Steve, Eric Komar and I formed a trio at Hofstra back in 2004. I will always remember him for his big heart, his kindness, and his music. May his memory be for a blessing. Sending my deepest sympathy to Beth and the rest of Steve's family.

To Steve's Family,

I just want to share with you how sad I was to learn of Steve's passing. As a member of Temple Sinai in Sharon where Steve has shared so much of himself and his love of music with the kids of our religious school, I can tell you he will be sorely missed.

Just this week, several of us were commenting on what a terrific job he has done with the kids -- this past Sunday at Mitzvah Day we were so pleased for him when he finally introduced the junior choir that he's tried so hard to form. And this Monday at Hebrew School, he was having the time of his life singing Passover songs with the students -- they were singing with such enthusiasm and laughing so loudly that those of us within hearing range jokingly commented on how lucky Steve was to be able to have such fun on the job.

He was a very special person and our synagogue has been fortunate to have had him a part of our children's religious education.

Please accept my sincere condolences on his passing.
