Taylor Benjamin Young obituary, Groton, MA

Taylor Young Obituary

Taylor Benjamin Young, four-year-old son of Matthew D. Young and Gale A. Devens, passed away on Monday, July 4th after a tragic accident.

Besides his parents, Taylor leaves a sister, Olivia Lynne Young of Groton; paternal grandparents, Elizabeth A. (Hatala) Young of Dryden, NY and David H. Young of Ithaca, NY; maternal grandparents, Janet A. McKeon and her husband Jack of Sterling and William R. Devens of Lehigh Acres, FL; maternal great-grandmother, Jean E. Danielson of Holden; two uncles, Aaron J. Young of Ithaca, NY and Michael R. Devens of Worcester; an aunt, Lynne M. Burns of Hubbardston; and a very large loving extended family. His aunt, Amy E. (Young) Cochrane, predeceased him.

Taylor was a sweet, energetic, boy who loved to dance and sing. He was born in Aachen, Germany, and we loved to carry him in our arms everywhere we went. His eyes were warm and brown filled with sparkle and sunshine, with long, flirty eyelashes. He loved his trucks and even though he just learned how to ride a big-boy bike without training wheels, he was already starting to pull "mean" wheelies and ride fast. We will miss our sweet little man. He was our little man, always helping his daddy with tools, building projects, and carrying the plants for his mommy to help plant in the garden. Blueberries and home-grown broccoli were his favorite. We still remember him coming down in his froggie rain boots and sneaking into the cabinet to eat peanut butter under the kitchen table. We love you silly boy.

We will miss your silly wake-up calls, when you pretended to be an alarm clock ("ALARM CLOCK!!!! ALARM CLOCK!!!") and play your air guitar. I will miss how you cuddled and ran your fingers through my hair holding your blue blankie, kitty cat and your dog.

He was bold and fearless, and typically performed his own acrobatic stunts and silly dance moves. He firmly believed that in the age-old struggle between trucks vs. dinosaurs….trucks win.

He is in the wind and sunshine. We can hear him dancing in the leaves and in the trees. We can feel him around us in the garden waking in the morning dew to greet us with his hugs and laughter. He is our Kokopelli boy, sprinkling the earth with music and joy, dancing in our hearts forever.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 8th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 10 a.m. in the Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital Trust, One Autumn Street, #731, Boston, MA 02215-5301.

To my sister, my life long best friend. I'm finding it difficult to write anything at all. I know that my insides ache so much with you, and for you. We have been able to share our lives together. I'm so thankful that I have been able to watch your beautiful kids grow up. We've shared so many of those precious moments...My favorite thing I would have to say, was watching the kids all run around and play. All the smiles and (sometimes tears) but mostly laughter...forever stitched into my heart is Taylor's loveable laugh. When you heard it, you couldn't help but laugh with him. I love you Matt, Gale, and Olivia

Matt I have much love for you and your family! I will be praying for peace of mind spirit and heart for all of you.... be blesses...

July 22, 2011

Now that I am gone,
remember me with smiles and laughter.
And if you need to cry,
cry with your brother or sister
who walks in grief beside you.
...And when you need me,
put your arms around anyone
and give to them what you need to give to me.
There are so many who need so much.
I want to leave you something --
something much better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I've known
or helped in some special way.
Let me live in your heart
as well as in your mind.
You can love me most
by letting your love reach out to our loved ones,
by embracing them and living in their love.
Love does not die, people do.
So, when all that's left of me is love,
give me away as best you can.

With sympathy, A Mom of Two Boys

Dear Matt and Gale,
I am so sorry for your great loss. You have a very sweet little boy . Take comfort in knowing that you will see him again one day in heaven. His sweet spirit is with you even now.
I am a friend of your mom and dad, Dave and Betty. Your family has suffered much loss, but through suffering you are able to comfort others who will need the same comfort as you need now. I suffered through the loss of my younger brother who died when he was 20 years old. It was a tragic death. I was in so much pain, I thought I would die, but I received much comfort from others and healing from above. The pain is duller and I miss him still after 29 years, but I know I will see him again one day. You are in my prayers.

Love to you and your family,
Anita K. (Norris) Wasson - from your Covenant Love Family

Like many others who have expressed their condolences I also never had the pleasure of meeting Taylor, and as a father, can’t imagine losing a child. I know the wonderful memories of Taylor are making it difficult right now but those same memories will bring warmth to you through the years ahead.

We must believe that somehow those that pass on before us are still close to us. One can tell in your writing that although Taylor’s life was far too short in time, it was full of happiness and love. Taylor was very fortunate to be part of such a loving family and as you said he gave all that love back.

I hope the very thought of Taylor will help you make it through this terrible time and bring you peace.

My Deepest Sympathy,

"WHEN GOD CALLS LITTLE CHILDREN"
When God calls little children
to dwell with him above,
We mortals sometime question
the wisdom of his love
For no heartache compares with
the death of one small child
Who does so much to make our world,
seem wonderful and mild
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to his fold,
So He picks a rosebud,
before she can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
and so he takes but a few
To make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult still
somehow we must try,
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "Goodbye."
So when a little child departs
we who are left behind
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.
