Vincent DiDio Obituary

Vincent DiDio, 53, of Keene, New Hampshire, formerly of Seymour, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 3, 2011, at Genesis Health Care in Keene, NH.

Vinnie was born in Derby, CT on Dec. 19, 1957, beloved son of Philip L. and Mary Nicoletti DiDio of Shrewsbury, MA. He graduated from Waterbury State Technical College and attended the University of Hawaii. He went on to work for the DuPont Corporation for 5 years as an Electronics Technician and Otis Elevator as a Regional Service Manager for 13 years. While at Otis, he spent 5 years in Hawaii and several years in different locations throughout the US. Vinnie loved the outdoors, especially the winters for skiing and snowmobiling. The love of winter attracted him to travel to and ski the mountains of Europe, British Columbia, and even Mauna Kea, a volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. Very early on in his adult life, he acquired land in the mountains of Chateaugay, where he finally made his home permanent for the last 13 years in Bridgewater Corners, VT. He was an entrepreneur at heart with skills in many disciplines. He was also self-employed in many enterprises. He was very active in VAST, an organization that maintains the snowmobiling trails in VT. He was a very giving person and consistently put others needs ahead of his own. He always had a positive outlook on life and there was nothing for him that was ever too difficult. Vinnie faced his long battle with cancer with that same positive outlook and calm, respectful, non-imposing demeanor. For him, it was just another challenge to overcome in life. He will be sadly missed by all, and eternally admired for the way he lived his life with his endearing respect and caring for others.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by 3 brothers, Philip L. DiDio (Nancy) of Texas, Larry DiDio of Shrewsbury, MA, and Matt DiDio (Denise) of Trumbull, CT, a sister, Nickie O'Toole (Michael) of Seymour, a nephew, Patrick O'Toole of New York, NY, a niece, Meghan DelSole (Christopher) of Seymour, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday August 6, 2011, at 9:15am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Seymour. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-8 p.m. The family prefers contributions to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Research Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756-0001 or through the funeral home. Vince was a great man. Greatest heart and so very kind to all of the staff here at the Hospital. Always so positive towards everyone and never showed any signs of surrender. He truly was a great man for the short time i knew him. (Jonathon Keene NH)

Sad news about Vince. Great guy with a can do attitude. Worked with Vince at 5 Farm Springs when he and I both broke out and struck out for the field! He and I shared a background as technicians and enjoyed the thrill of the hunt that troubleshooting presented. Got to swing from some trees in Boston for a week with Vince (Safety Training) - You will be missed but never forgotten! Godspeed Vince!

I'm very sory and sad to hear about this. Vinny worked for me at Otis Elevator when he first started there. Our work ethics were pretty much the same and we got along great in and out of the work place. My camp in VT is north of his. Vinny was a great friend and good to everybody. Vinny lead a very active lifestyle and enjoyed life to the fullest and now i'm glad he did. My prayers go out for him. William J Porciello Sr. Bigbill @ Otis.

Mr. & Mrs. DiDio, Phil, Nickie, Matt & Larry ~ So many childhood memories came back remembering the fun times spent with all of you when we were growing up. Vinnie has always been a special loving person and his distinct "DiDio laugh" will now echo the halls of heaven. Haven't seen him in years but it seems like yesterday. May you all find peace and comfort during this most difficult time. xox
