Vivian Murphy Obituary

Vivian E. (Gagnon) Murphy, 84, of Worcester, died Friday, December 11th in Beaumont at Westborough. Her husband, John W. Murphy, died in 2000.

She leaves four daughters, Susan A. Hamel and her husband Eric of Worcester and their children, Erica Vellone and Melissa Hudson; Eileen P. Slater and her husband Stephen of Ashland and their children, Nigel and Sarah Slater; Kathleen L. Spencer, wife of the late Thomas Spencer, of Spencer, and their children, Patrick, Casey and Daniel; and Maureen M. Mooshian and her husband Michael of Worcester; a sister, Shirley Callahan of Grafton; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Clarence and Alma (Gaumont) Gagnon and lived here all her life.

Mrs. Murphy was a switchboard operator at St. Vincent Hospital for many years before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church.

The funeral is Monday, December 14th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Monday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, DC, 20077.
