William DePatie Obituary

William J. DePatie, 81

Dennis and Englewood, FL - William J. DePatie, 81, of Dennis and Englewood, FL, formerly of Worcester, passed away on June 20, 2018. Born and raised in Worcester he was the son of the late Leon and Kathleen DePatie.

He is survived by his sons David DePatie and his wife Carol, Mike DePatie and his wife Patty, Robert DePatie and his daughter Elizabeth DePatie, his sister Kathleen O'connel and cousins, nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his son William DePatie, Jr. and sister MaryJane Bowland, and brother Jackie Depatie. He was a loving father and grandfather.

William was a graduate of Boys Voc-Tech in Worcester. After high school he became the chief of Civil Defense in Leicester, which would later become E.M.S. He was proud to be a Worcester Fire Fighter for 28 years. He started DePatie Tower Service which he owned for 30 years serving the Massachusetts State Police, many fire departments and emergency services. Billy was an active member of the Retired State Police and Fire Fighters Association, and a member of the Florida Sherriff's Association. A man of many talents, Billy could most often be seen out on the water in his boat. There must have been something broken in Heaven for God to call Billy.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Doane, Beal & Ames, 729 Rt 134, S. Dennis. A funeral service will also be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00am at Doane, Beal & Ames in S. Dennis. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in S. Dennis.

I called him old Uncle Billy...(you know, that grumpy old uncle that every family has!) I work for one of those communications companys that service the MSP and had several adventures with him hanging off of towers yelling to the ground and claiming he didn't need any of the new fangled safety equipment to work up there...We usually covered our eyes as he flung himself around the towers working on antennas or whatever needed doing, great man! He will be missed! RIP 115

To the DePatie family, I would like to express my sincere sympathy in Bill's passing. I worked with him for several years out of Hdqts. He was a character always has several irons in the fire at once. He will be missed.
