I incorrectly signed the previous post to my brother Billy. I know you’re laughing at me Bill! The name should read Anne Maher Heller!!

It is one year ago today that my brother Billy left this world. It seems like only yesterday I held your hand in your hospital room. This has been such a difficult year beginning with losing you at the start of the pandemic year. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about you and say a prayer for your peace and for your daughters and granddaughters. You are so missed dear brother. I love you.

I'm so sad to hear of Bill's passing. He and I met through Meetup several years ago. He was always so kind and friendly, and he always seemed so happy when he was dancing! He will be missed.

What a delight it was to have met Bill. Thank you, Melanie, for bringing him into our lives. He brightened every day with his funny FB posts. He shared family history in a quiet but proud way. And it was obvious he loved his children with all his heart. He will be missed.

I played golf with Bill in the Raytheon League. He always had jokes and we competed on "bad puns" all the time. He was a good golfer and friend to all. Despite his situation, he was always upbeat with a smile. Miss you Bill. Rest now but we will always fondly remember you.

I will miss Billy's quiet presence in our loud and active family. I will miss seeing his face light up when his beautiful granddaughters Emma and Olivia come into the room. I will miss seeing his interaction with his beloved daughters Marissa and Melanie. I will miss hearing his excitement when one of his beloved Boston sports teams wins a championship. I will miss Billy's very funny Facebook posts (where did you find some of this stuff, Billy?!). I will miss including Billy on an email to "the siblets" as he called us, his siblings. It's always been the 7 of us siblets, I just can't think about the fact that it's now 6. As I told Billy last Sunday, our last day with him, it will ALWAYS be the 7 of us...ALWAYS. I love you dear brother Billy, my heart is breaking.

Dearest Darby - It's been a very strange week. I'm grateful that you're not here having to deal with all of the crazy that's happening. As Mel said - all sports seasons have been cancelled or postponed. And all social gatherings have been shelved for now also. We will celebrate you in a few months once we're beyond all of this chaos. We know that you would want what's best for everyone, and for us not to worry about it. Emma has been drawing pictures for you and misses you greatly. I told her that you're always here with us and that she can talk to you whenever she needs you. I know you'll get the message and respond when you can. Livi is her happy little self. She was looking for you when we visited the other night. I'm sure she'll continue to look for you. You shared a special bond. We hold you in our hearts Darby/Grampy. Love you and miss you more than words can say. Love your buddy, Mariss ❤❤

I'm so very sorry, Melanie, to learn of your dad's death. What an ordeal he lived through. You have been a beautiful daughter to him, and he definitely knows that. And what a beautiful tribute to him this is: it gave me a window into what he was like as a wonderful human being. Please know that you are in our thoughts during this time. He will definitely live on through you. My heart aches for you right now. Fondly, Sue and Joe

Hi Dad! It's so hard to grasp that you're not here on Earth with us anymore. But your soul is free from the pain, the nausea, the cancer. Things are really weird right now... all sports have been postponed! You would have hated that and everything that is going on right now. Yesterday I listened to Tom Petty and felt my chest clench and tears coming. I almost shut it off but then I remembered that the reason for the reaction is that I love you so much and miss you. I let the song keep playing and switched my mind to happier memories. Our trip to Ireland, your visits to GA and CA, Sox games, having dinner together, dancing at my wedding...all good things. I never want to turn off the songs we love and even if it hurts for a minute, I can use it to reflect on all the good stuff. I'll miss you forever but I don't have to go far to know that you're with me. In fact, 50% of me is you!!! Love you Dad!!! Love always, your Melly.
