William VanderBrug Obituary

William E. VanderBrug, 73, of Oriole Dr. died Tuesday Sept. 14, 2010 in UMass Medical Center, Worcester. He was the husband of Janet M. (Jorritsma) VanderBrug.

Mr. VanderBrug was employed as a Truck Driver for Anchor Motor Freight in Framingham for 30 years until his retirement in 1999.

He was born April 15, 1937 in Whitinsville, son of the late Henry and Edith (Harkema) VanderBrug and was a graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1955.

He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. & Mrs. VanderBrug had observed their 52nd wedding anniversary on Sept. 30, 2009.

William was a member of the Local 170 Teamsters of Worcester. He was a long time member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church where he had formerly served as a Deacon and Usher. He loved his family and grandchildren. William was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling.

In addition to his wife Janet, he is survived by one son, Kyle W. and his wife Sheri VanderBrug of Elmhurst, IL; two daughters: Pamela J. and her husband John Hammond of Sutton and Dawn M. and her husband Mike Verkaik of Holland, MI; one brother, Richard H. VanderBrug; one sister, Kathryn G. VanderBaan, both of Whitinsville; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Tess Catherine Hammond.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church, 25 Cross St., Whitinsville 01588.

Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Providence Rd., Northbridge 01534.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 from 5-8 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 480 Church St. Whitinsville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Whitinsville Retirement Home, 10 Chestnut St., Whitinsville, MA 01588 or the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
