Nancy Ann Rein, 74, of Loudon, Tenn., passed away after a 15-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Detroit and raised in Roseville, Michigan. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Macomb Community College and Madonna University - all with honors.
During and after college, she worked for Ameritech/Michigan Bell Telephone Company where she held several management positions in Customer Relations, Human Resource Training and Business/Long Distance Marketing. She was a Junior Achievement volunteer for several years educating eighth-grade students in Business Economics and also taught fire safety classes for the Salem Township Fire Department.
At Christmas time, she marched with the "Santa" float at the annual Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade for several years.
After moving to Tellico Village (Tennessee) in 1996, she joined many clubs and volunteer service organizations including Iva's Place, Tellico Boaters Assistance Response Team, Toqua Club Gardener, Easter bunny at the Recreation Center for 10 years, coordinated the Tellico Village Beautification Garage Sale for two years, President of the Antique Club, taught classes at the Loudon Technical School for alternative students and was the initiator of the poster display at the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum Fall Festival - where more than 1,800 Native American students from Cherokee, NC, have participated during the past 22 years.
She was also a member of the Ford, RV, Tellico Riders Motorcycle Clubs and WATeR.
Her main passion was sewing and quilting where she spent numerous hours making and donating quilts, baby blankets and dolls to the Child Advocacy Center, Quilts of Valor, STAR, Loudon County Animal Shelter, first responders/police agencies, nursing homes, Our PLACE and served as President of the Tellico Village Quilt Club. For all her efforts, she was awarded the Tellico Village Community Service Award in 2003.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother Mary Ann Riegel(Krause), father Gerald Riegel and sister Loretta Michniacki.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Bruce Rein, sister Mary Kay Campbell of Hendersonville, TN, and brother Gerald Riegel of Madisonville Heights, MI, stepdaughter Suzanne Coghlan and husband Michael and their three children Katelyn, Haley and Kelly of Saline, MI, stepson Timothy Rein and wife Cassie and their four children Zachary, Jessica, Edison and Tynne of Ann Arbor, MI.
