Yvonne "Vonnie" Lee Swanson
Age 90, of Rice Lake, WI, died Monday, June 16, 2025 in Rice Lake.
She was born on December 14, 1934 in Montgomery, MN to Ronald and Angeline (Meskal) Novotny. Vonnie graduated from Montgomery High School in 1952 and then graduated from The College St. Scholastic with a degree as a Registered Nurse. She was married to David Swanson October 19, 1957 in Montgomery, MN. Vonnie worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and for Indianhead Medical Group in Rice Lake.
She loved playing bridge, cards, playing games, working on her crossword puzzles, gardening, and traveling. She loved taking and spending time at the cabin with her family. Yvonne was very proud of her family and their accomplishments.
She was passionate, protective, faithful, determined and a very loving person. She was a very active lady - involved in Rice Lake Fortnightly, St. Joseph in CCW, and the church choir, the Red Hats Society, and working the city elections.
She is survived by her husband, David Swanson; 4 sons, Greg (Sandy) Swanson, Tom (Jacqie) Swanson, Mike (Jeanie) Swanson and Paul (Marie) Swanson; 9 grandchildren, Sarah (Scott), Matt (Liz), Nick, Becca (Austin), Nate, Jenica (Sean), Turner (Kelsey), Alex and Hailey; 9 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Carole Hiniker, Kathy (Greg) Malecha and Peggy (Bob) Heuer; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Angeline Novotny; a sister, Nancy Dorshak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Haugen, WI, Father Isaiah Schick officiating, with interment in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI at 2PM. Visitation will be held from 10AM-Noon Wednesday, June 25 at the church. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
