Andy and Tracy, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad, Woody. Woody was an incredible mentor to so many and I appreciate the chance to work at SCA with him, and all he did for me. Thinking of you and your families during this difficult time, and sending prayers your way. Best, Marye Walker Lewis

Like so many others, I was fortunate to have had Woody Miller enter my life when I was a very young hospital Administrator with HCA. Woody was a true friend to me and my young family. Woody was my first real boss and he became my mentor, my business partner and my friend. For over 10 years we spent a great deal of time together in business and in play. We skied, sailed, rode horses and did perhaps more than a bit of enjoyable socializing along the way. We also built a successful business paving the way for the early detection of heart disease. Woody had a great intellect and instinct for business and while his guidance and leadership could often be demanding it was also invaluable, however he also an amazing heart. He loved his family, he loved humor, and friendship. As everyone already knows he was also an amazing philanthropist supporting so many varied causes. He taught me to give back, and to support causes which were good, even if controversial.
While I am emotional and feel your shared grief of his passing, for me, the memory of Woody Miller is pretty easy to express. Woody was a true Mensch, who loved is family and his friends. For those of you who might not be Jewish or understand Yiddish, being a Mensch in my world is as good as it gets. A Mensch is defined as a person of integrity and honor. In my faith, we also have a life principal called Tikkun Olam, which we embrace as to leave the world a better place. I believe that the greatest legacy one can have, in fact the only legacy that matters, is to be known as a Mensch, one of honor and integrity, who has left this world a better place - and that is exactly how I shall always remember my friend.
Andy and Tracy - May his memory never fade, and may it always serve his family as a blessing.

Without Woodys efforts on our behalf, we would have had no place to practice medicine, and no medical career. Because of what he did, many lives were touched, and careers were made. Sincerest condolences to his family, and much gratitude to Woody.

During times of loss we find ourselves troubled by things we cannot understand. There are no answers to comfort your grief, only lasting love and precious memories. I'll be thinking of you and your family during this sad time. I'm sorry I won't be there Saturday to give you a hug, but I'll be out of town.
