Ann Fuqua Obituary
Nashville, TN
-Was born on April 8, 1934 and at age 82, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2016. Ann graduated East High School in 1951. She graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1955, and then she earned her PhD from Vanderbilt University. She was a professor at Trevecca Nazarene University for 38 years, where she taught Biology, Chemistry, and Science. She was awarded the Status Emeritus. She had married her husband, Shannon on November 9, 1957. They have been members of St. John Methodist since 1961, where she was a very active member and was the founder and teacher of the Sans Cera Sunday School class. Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Fuqua. Survived by her husband, Shannon Fuqua; daughter, Julie Fuqua. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at West Harpeth Funeral Home, online guestbook www.westharpethFH.com (615) 352-9400. A Graveside Service will be on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 2:00pm, at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. My condolences for your loss. Dr Fuqua stands out to me as the single professor at Trevecca who I felt truly cared for me as a person. I am a 1983 graduate and went on to medical school and am now a Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician. She was one of the rare persons who was sentinel in my life. I was in her home once, she extended great kindness to me when my father was killed In an accident at the end of my senior year at Trevecca. She will always be treasured in my heart. As a religion major at Trevecca taking biology was tricky, but having Dr. Fuqua was a blessing. I could listen to her speak all day. She has made such an impact on the lives of many!

My prayers and sympathies to Mr. Fuqua and Julie.
Dr. Fuqua was my Trevecca professor in the early '70's and instilled in me the excitement to teach science and biology to elementary kids. Later in the '80's, she was a friend and colleague when I returned to work at Trevecca Nazarene University. I loved her laugh and sense of humor. I know she is well and at peace today with the Lord . Love you Ann!
