I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Werthan personally, but I certainly knew him by reputation when I was growing up in Nashville. His passing is a great loss to Nashville and to Klal Yisrael. May all who loved him be comforted among the mourners of our people, and in the arms of friends and family!

Dear Betty, Betsy, Kay, Tim, Tony and family,
Your husband/Dad/grandpa was one of the finest! In his quiet demeanor he touched the lives of so many. He stood up for what he believed in and always put others before himself. As a young girl, I remember visiting Nashville and Duck Key and feeling so welcomed. Your Dad loved spending time with the younger generation and getting to know us.
If the world were filled with more Bernard Werthan's, it would be a much more loving, caring, civil place to live. Bernard exemplified the best in human nature and we should all learn from his example!
I am so sorry for you loss. The Epstein Tanner families send their love and condolences. xo

Dear Werthan Family, I was sorry to hear about the passing of Bernard. Although it has been many years since I've seen him, I still remeber him being a very kind man. I remember visitng your family many years ago and going to Gatlinburg. I also remember flying with Phil and Mom to visit a few years afterward. We lost Dad in February at he same age of 86.
Be well.

I've known Bernard since shortly after relocating to middle Tennessee in 2001. His tireless passion for the community in many, many ways inspired me through the years and will continue to inspire me as we continue his legacy of caring.

I was sadden when I heard the news of Bernard, we worked together in the same office for several years; it was a feeling of family. Bernard always had a kind word for everyone he spoke with, we lost a great man but God wanted him to come home. To Betty, Tony and family; may God give you comfort in knowing: to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Mr. Bernard Werthan, Jr. was a very kind man. I worked at Werthan Packaging from 1979 to 1983 and he was always nice to me when he would come by to visit. Mr. Werthan visited everyone before he left the building. He will be missed very much.

I hope his family knows just how many people he touched. I have always felt fortunate to have been acquainted with him through his Sons of Abraham work and to know that Nashvillle had people as sincere and as selfless as he was.
