Carolyn Andrews Cheek (Andrews)

Sparta - Carolyn Andrews Cheek, age 77, of Sparta went to her heavenly home on November 17, 2018.

Carolyn was born October 16, 1941 in Memphis. She adored her husband and sweetheart of 57 years, Ernest Martin Cheek.

She is the mother of three children, John Cheek (Jongee), Courtney Vaughn (David), and Julie Anderson (Mike). She dearly loved her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who brought much joy to her life. Her grandchildren are Michael Seth Anderson (McKenzie), Caroline Holman (Todd), Rachel Cheek, Tyler Vaughn, and Will Cheek. Her great-grandchildren are Adalee Hampshire and Blaine Holman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Jewel Andrews; brothers, Bill and George Andrews; and grandsons, Daniel Martin and William Jacob Vaughn.

She was a 1959 graduate of White County High School. She attended the University of Tennessee and was a 1963 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. She earned a designation of Certified Insurance Counselor in 1988. She worked with her husband at Cheek Insurance Agency from 1978 until she retired in 2015.

She was an ordained priest in the Diocese of Saint Cuthbert, The Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches.

She was most known for loving Jesus and everyone she met, being a prayer warrior, and hosting fabulous dinners.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Sparta First United Methodist Church, 23 N. Church Street, with Rev. Ken Wallace and Rev. Pam Sims officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 12:00 until time of the service. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Pallbearers to serve are Seth Anderson, Tyler Vaughn, Will Cheek, Todd Holman, Jud Smith, Ernest McElroy, Hal Andrews, and Josh Andrews.

Honorary pallbearers to serve are Robert Gallaher, Trent Roberson, John Sims, John Acuff, Johnny McElroy, Frank Pendleton, and Bill West.

Memorials can be made to the Harold and Jewel Andrews Memorial Scholarship Fund at Martin Methodist College, 433 West Madison Street, Pulaski, Tennessee 38478.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
