Chuck brought a standard to instrumental music that is very rare in this world. He had a passion for teaching and touched the lives of students/colleagues in many ways throughout his career. Chuck taught me to water ski the summer that I was in "The Stephen Foster Story" and living in Bardstown. June Williams

He was such a dear friend and mentor. I was able to work with the band in Estill County (having been a vocal major in college). I always looked up to him even though I was 4 years older. Judy, his wife, was the counselor at Estill Co. Middle School, a wonderful friend and colleague.

Dearest Campbell Family,
I was truly devastated to hear of Chuck's passing. What a wonderful person he was and what wonderful memories I have of Mr. C and of all of you while I was at GRC. My mother also lost her battle with pancreatic cancer and I know personally how hard and how painful the disease can be on the person afflicted as well as on the whole family. I know you miss him greatly. He was surely one of a kind - "THE BEST KIND". May God comfort you Judy, and the boys and their families. All my love and prayers are lifted to our wonderful Lord for his continued grace and support to your family. Everytime I say "Good, Better, Best, Never let it Rest- Till your Good is Better, and your Better is Best" to my band and chorus students I think back to those days when I learned so much from Chuck about music , loving kids, and caring deeply with passion and concern about others. Remember God's promise-we will all meet each other again in HIS Glory. I'm so sorry I hadn't kept in touch- but I've never forgotten you all and will always love you.
Can you just imagine the smile of joy on Chuck's face now as he's seen the face of Our Savior? I'll always remember his smile!!
Love, Lu

My deepest condolences to your family. My family lived next door to Chuck and his young family on Gregory Street in Etown long ago. My older brother, Steve, was a drummer in Chuck's band at East Hardin High. While Chuck had already left EHHS, I too become a part of the proud Rebeleer band tradition that Chuck began. Many thanks for his long standing legacy and influence through music! May God bless your family.

My deepest sympathy to Chick's family. He was a man of great talent and will be sorely missed by many both professionally and personally.
Chuck became my mentor late in his life when we became close friends in the judging community. His insights have molded me in ways that he will never know. May the thoughts and prayers lift up Chuck's loved ones in this time of sorrow.

I am very saddened to hear of Chucks' passing. My deepest sympathy to his family. Chuck played with me in the EKU jazz band for a short time while I was at Madison Central. We became very good friends and although our paths crossed only momentarily from time to time, I always followed his career with very keen interest. He sat the Southeastern Band Festival on its ear when he brought his first band to Bristol. No one had ever seen the style Chuck used. The music world has lost a great director. He will be most certainly missed and remembered.

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of dear old friend and fellow supporter of young people in music. I had the pleasure of judging beside Chuck many years ago and he was and avid supporter of our Bands of America organization. We all mourn the passing of an outstanding role model, a gentleman of great character, and giant in our world of bands and music education. I'll miss his smile.

My deepest sympathy goes to each of the family members in your loss. This was a loss to many and to the band programs around the country. I knew Chuck from my work as band director in Indiana and he and I judged together years ago. He was a wonderful individual, a fantastic band director and a class act through and through. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I was Chuck's Band Director at EKU. A great student because he was always curious about new techniques, styles, and improving his musicianship. Worked with him (for 2 days) at the recemt Foster Music camp final concert in Richmond. He will be missed. A fine teacher, musician, gentleman.

In the 30+ plus years that I have known Mr. Campbell, I don't know that I have ever know a finer and more wonderful individual. I have worked with the Lafayette Band for many years and he has always spoken to me of my endeavors with kind words and I always took his opinion seriously. He was a class act and there aren't very many like him around anymore. He was a great band director who provided me with much joy and inspiration in my years in the band field. He will be greatly missed by all and I will miss seeing him at State Marching Band Championships each year as it was a highlight for me. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go to all.
