I'll always have fond memories of, briefly, working at the original O'Charley's and Charlie's engaging smile. Saw him, occasionally, in the pursuing years and he always remembered me. Chuck and Celia, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I remember so well the days of sitting in the original restaurant with Charlie, just talking, mostly about his passion of the restaurant, his family, his military career.
I first met Mr. Watkins when I was with Lamar Advertising and we worked on a billboard campaign with the simple "Good Food - Good Drinks - Good Times" under a plate with fork and knife, all just black and white. He was so proud of that simply billboard design.
I have often told others in the food industry that Mr. Watkins had a saying that I always remembered that he told employees: TIPS stands for Time, Interest, Personality and Service - give your customer that and you will get TIPS.
Charlie and Marcie, your Dad was a man among men with honor and integrity and respect.
I will cherish forever his kindness to me.

I was lucky enough to work for Mr and Mrs Watkins at the original O'Charleys in the late 70s. Coming to work was a blast because they were so warm and fun and everyone in the restaurant felt like part of a big family. Many of the friends I made then are still my friends today and we look back on that time as really special. My deepest condolences to Marcie and Chuck and their families. Mr Watkins was a wonderful man and I am grateful to have known him.
