Dr. Anderson - what a terrific gentleman. He and his family were neighbors of ours on Tower Place in Nashville in the 1950s. My parents, older brother (Bob), and I lived next door to the Andersons and Dr. Anderson soon became our family physician. My first thoughts of Dr. Anderson are of him keeping tabs on my heart murmur. He was sort of like Marcus Welby, M.D., making house calls. Every now and then, Dr. Anderson would come over to our house to check on me. Mother said he would warm the stethoscope in his hands so I would not be startled by the coldness of it. Smart man!

Another incident I vividly remember was when I was about six years of age. Mother had just taken a pot of boiling water off the stovetop. To see if the burner was still hot, I licked my entire hand, plopped it on the burner, and quickly found out it was! My cousin's husband ran to get Dr. Anderson. Even though they were in the middle of eating dinner, Dr. Anderson immediately came over, with his doctor's bag in hand, jumping over the ditch and hedge between our houses, put some soothing stuff on my hand and bandaged it up, making it all better. Again, another Marcus Welby, M.D., moment!

After Dr. Anderson retired from private practice, I actually saw him once at Baptist. We talked for several minutes in the hallway. At Baptist and in his private practice, Dr. Anderson always talked to a person as if they were the only one there - never rushed the conversation just to see another patient.

Daddy played the saxophone while in high school, and I imagine he and Dr. Anderson had some musical stories to share.

Mrs. Anderson once wrote that Tower Place was a wonderful place to raise a family. She also mentioned liking the Spiced Round my parents would fix during the Christmas holidays.

We were very fortunate to have had the Anderson family as neighbors.

Dr. Anderson was my client for several years. I had the privilege of cutting his hair. We had several heart warming conversations. He shared how he enjoyed fishing trips to my home town of Ely, Minnesota.

He was a wonderful man and I miss him very much.

"Dr. Anderson began as a client of ours (Always Home, Inc.) and became very important to me. As we helped him relocate, he had the opportunity to share life stories and many many touching and funny times. I admired him very much and will miss him greatly."

Ed was a dear friend. We were in the same class at Vanderbilt and he was in my husband Lynwood's medical class as well. We had many good times with Ed and Anna Marie while we were in school and I remember he was such a good dancer! He will be missed and I send love to all his family.
