Hazel did a pastel portrait of me when I was 6 or 7 years old that still hangs in my home. I also have a picture of her, the pastel and myself in the corner of the frame. The picture was taken of us during our last visit in my home. It is a treasure and reminds me daily of the special friendship she had with my mother and father. My father was the manager of the Tennessee State Fair Grounds and the portrait was done at the fairgrounds. She was truly a Nashville treasure.

Mrs. King was a wonderful neighbor and friend, she
Painted my portrait when I was 10 years old , and won many blue ribbons from it. My little brother and Eddie played and were big friends.

I just learned today of Hazel's passing. She will never be forgotten by people like me who were with her in her art classes and who were lucky enough to be part of her life. I most remember how that as a teacher she truly worked to see her pupils reach their full artistic potential. I will really miss her.

I just learned of this fabulous lady's passing today. She was more than a dance teacher, she was a mentor. Hazel turned my life around at a time I had lost all hope. She could do that with anyone. To say she was the profound positive influence in my life would be an understatement. I will carry the memory of Hazel in my heart forever. A major loss for Nashville and the art world.

I am heartbroken by the loss of Hazel. The way she loved life, her friends, her family and saw and portrayed beauty through her art was an inspiration to me. I was blessed to have known her. Her lovely smile is lighting up heaven tonight. Prayers to her family at this sad time.

She was the greatest singular influence in my life, as an artist. I will forever remember and love her for the divine person I always saw her to be.
