James MILLIGAN Obituary

MILLIGAN, James Edward "Red" Age 82 of Waverly/St. Cloud, FL, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, TN after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Born October 8, 1928 in Old Johnsonville, TN. He served in WWII and Korean War as a frogman for the U. S. Navy, then with the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Red was a highly respected Ironworker who supervised the steel erection on several large projects in the south, including a prison in South Carolina, hotels in Florida, and projects at Epcot Center and Cape Kennedy Space Center. He retired from ironworking in 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. T. and Ruby Bell Milligan, Sr.; son, Charles Wayne Milligan; brother, H.T. Milligan, Jr.; sisters, Louise (Sam) Breeden and Betty Jo (Bob) Larkin. Survivors include his wife, Barbara C. Milligan, St. Cloud, FL; daughter, Dianne (Mike) Patterson, Springfield, TN; stepson, Lonnie (Teena) Jenkins, St. Cloud, FL; stepdaughter, Lisa (Rick) Spain, Odessa, FL; sister, Christine Hewitt, Gallatin, TN; sister-in-law, Dot Milligan, Waverly, TN; granddaughters, Kris (Rayburn) Keith, Merri Patterson, all of Springfield, TN, Crystal Jenkins and Richelle Spain, both of FL; grandsons, Lonnie Jenkins, Jr., Adam and Bradley Spain, all of FL; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Casey Keith, Melina Gaspard, Alexis Blake, all of Springfield, TN, Shelby Shroyer of FL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly, TN. Bro. Bobby Williams will be officiating. Interment to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in New Johnsonville, TN. LUFF-BOWEN FUNERAL HOME, 2400 Hwy. 13 North, Waverly, TN (931) 296-2437.
